Week 68
We've had a decent week. We've been working really hard to help some people get ready for baptism. It's been hard, stressful work, but there's so much joy to be found in it!
It's incredible to see people more fully discover their Savior Jesus Christ. IT'S AWESOME! The true joy that's apparent is an incredible thing to see as people grow to feel the spirit as they read The Book of Mormon and pray. That book is SO TRUE! It's just awesome. :D
I wanted to talk a bit more about Christmas.
1- I love it! I'm so pumped! it's in 10 days! Check out our tree!
2- It is being destroyed by the world. Advertising, desite for "stuff," and reduced morals are invading every facet of our lives. It can be hard to truly know what's good.
Our perception of everything is in a house of mirrors. For instance, If you were driving down a road and you were told that there were 2 different cows, one on the left that was purple, and one on the right that was genetically perfect, which do you think that most people would look at?
the purple one. But why?
The world seeks "shocks." But the perfect one is so obviously better!
I invite you to focus your life on what's pure and perfect, and how do you find it?
Moroni 7:20-22
20 And now, my brethren, how is it possible that ye can lay hold upon every good thing?
21 And now I come to that faith, of which I said I would speak; and I will tell you the way whereby ye may lay hold on every good thing.
22 For behold, God knowing all things, being from everlasting to everlasting, behold, he sent angels to minister unto the children of men, to make manifest concerning the coming of Christ; and in Christ there should come every good thing.
Focus your life (and Christmas) on Christ and you "can lay hold upon every good thing."

Week 67
This past week was great! We taught some of the awesome people that we've been working with.
This Christmas I want to invite you all to give a gift to someone. Sounds simple enough, right? I would like to invite everyone who to give a Christmas gift to God.
I want to invite you all to give God the gift of some of your time every day. He created us, everything we have, and time as we know it, so a little time every day is nothing.
I now invite everyone to give 15 minutes, at least, to God every day by reading The Book of Mormon. Even if you think that you know The Book of Mormon backwards or if reading it is against everything that you've been taught. It is the evidence of his biggest gifts to us. It testifies of Jesus Christ (#1 gift) and it's the evidence that he has restored His gospel and Church on the earth (#2 gift). Please do not misunderstand, we read from, believe in, and love the Holy Bible, but The Book of Mormon has special power. What do you have to lose?
Christmas time is a time when we all draw closer to Jesus Christ if we will open our hearts and allow him in.
Let him in, follow him, read The Book of Mormon. If you have any questions about The Book of Mormon, or about our beliefs as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, you may contact your local Mormon, or you may comment on this blog.
If you'd like a copy of The Book of Mormon, please press on this link to get a free copy!

Week 66
Happy December!
I had a pretty exciting day yesterday to say the least. I woke up at 5, felt like I was going to throw up, then I commenced to throw up... a lot... I had about 8 throw up sessions, each containing 4-5 up-chucks. So, in all, I threw up about 40 times yesterday. It could not be considered fun.
I wanted to go to the ER, but the nurse got some meds for me. She sent them with her son, because the nurse has the same bug right now.
My companion and this awesome young man gave me a blessing. I did not throw up a single time after that! YEAH PRIESTHOOD!
The meds really helped me out as well. I'm still not healthy, but I'm feeling better today.
I want to introduce you to the coolest Christmas video ever. it's called "He is the Gift." It's the church's effort for this Christmas and holiday season to be more focused on Christ. It's fantastic.
It can be found on Christmas.mormon.org. It's about 3 minutes long and is seriously powerful. Share it with all your friends! ALL OF THEM! #sharethegift
Christmas is the perfect time to refocus your life on Christ, but the world would have you focus on presents, deals, and other truly meaningless things (if you look at the big picture.)
If you'd like some help in centering your life on our savior Jesus Christ, you may go on christmas.mormon.org and click on "Ask a Question." Mormon Missionaries (like myself) are there to chat with you, to answer any question that you might have.
I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. He loves us. He is the Gift from God to us. He provides our opportunity to be perfected.

THIS JUST IN: Elder T. Decker cut his hair HIMSELF and it wasn't a disaster! WOOOOOOOO! That's a shocker for us all. He decided that he was no longer going to pay $12 for someone to use a 2 on the sides, a 5 on top, and fade it in with a 3 or a 4, so he bought his one stuff for $30 and will save ALL THE MONEYS!
Week 65:
This past week was awesome! an investigator gave us 2 pairs of boxing gloves and will give us a punching bag tonight. We know what we're doing for exercise tomorrow morning!
We met some incredible people and taught them! We had some fantastic lessons this past week. With evidence of this past week, I'd like to propose some keys to happiness:
1- forgiveness
For us to overcome the past and to learn to love again, we need forgiveness. We shared this video in a lesson this past week. It was amazing. She's been having some trouble with forgiving others recently and through this video, and the Spirit, she decided to start on the path of forgiveness.
Immediately after she decided to start on the path, she started to look and be much happier. Be happy- forgive.
2- work
"Do you want to be happy? Forget yourself and get lost in this great cause. Lend your efforts to helping people... Stand higher, lift those with feeble knees, hold up the arms that hang down. Live the gospel of Jesus Christ." -Gordon B. Hinckley
To be happy we must be doing something. O motto in my family concerning objects is "if it doesn't work, it has no reason to exist." When we aren't working we tend to start to feel that way, it's not true, but that's what we feel.
To be happy we must do things. Most importantly, we must do things for others. We must serve like Jesus Christ served. Go get involved in something good!
3- God
Through God we can overcome all things. We can overcome all discouragement, we can be forgiven, we can forgive, we can find peace, we can overcome all trials. God will not often eliminate our trials, but he will help us push through them all.
Through knowing God and following his commandments we will live a happy life. We will endure trials well, we will overcome all things.
Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
Alma 36: 25 "Yea, and now behold, O my son, the Lord doth give me exceedingly great joy in the fruit of my labors."
Follow God, serve, and forgive. In this lies true and glorious happiness.
I also invite you to talk to the missionaries in your area. They can help you find the happiness that you seek.

Week 64
Shout out to:
Gabe- Is the coolest, and was considered to be an amazing Le Fou in "Beauty and the Beast Jr."
Lanie Beard- Was said to do a very fantastic job in SC Idol!
This week has been fantastic! We've found some more people to teach and have been able to continue helping those whom we have already started teaching.
Last week we went hiking as a district! It was a lot of fun! We started a fire and roasted how dogs, made s'mores, it was fantastic! It was REALLY cold, but awesome!
Something that I've thought a lot about is remembering. Remembering is a theme of the Book of Mormon, and it is SO important. Heavenly Father often blesses us with experiences that could make a big impact on us, but if we forget to remember that experience is lost. A Book of Mormon prophet wrote

Heleman 5:12
12 And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.

If we can remember where true happiness actually lies, would we ever seek wrong things? No.

Moroni 10:3
3 Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts.

Remember God's mercy since the world was created. Remember experiences you've had. Remember that His mercy is there for you now and always will be there for you.

Week 63
Today, I only have 9 months left. THAT'S INSANE!
My little bro is 14! That's crazier.
Jerusalem was being bombed! I just learned that like 2 weeks ago!
This past week was crazy. LOADS of ups and downs. It's been wacko.
We were getting a bit discouraged this past week, trying to find people to teach. We were praying hard and a lot. On Thursday when we were at the gym a guy walked up to us, said that he'd been taught previously and wanted to meet with us again. WE WERE SO EXCITED!  We stopped by his house later that night and the spirit was there SO STRONG. We talked about the Restoration of Christ's church and testified that the Book of Mormon is true. We shared how each of us had come to that knowledge. He said that he felt elevated by the things that we taught. He could feel the Spirit testifying that these things are true.
I know that these things are true. Christ has, once again, reached out to us. He's, again, given us a prophet, as he always has (see: The Holy Bible), to lead, guide, and direct us; to know his will for us.
The evidence of these things is The Book of Mormon. read it, you've got nothing to lose, in fact, it will bless your life in ways that you can't imagine.

Week 62
Happy Birthday to Kid! (My little brother Gabe) One year older, wiser too, but still a kid.  ;)
We've gone through some trials this past week. I've started to loose some long distance vision, so we're setting up an appointment with an eye doctor, I've been waking up with an upset stomach, I've been sleep talking a lot (I think I do that when I'm stressed), We've been trying to find people to teach and been having to hand people over to the English Elders because some people aren't in our area. That's been sad.
I want to talk a bit about how important the hope that Christ offers is so important. We talked to a young man in high school whose done some bad stuff. He has to go to boy scouts for community service (we don't know what he did), and apparently his girlfriend is currently in jail. He's got it super rough, and we don't know the half of it. We were talking to him about Jesus Christ and his power to heal and cleanse us. We asked him "How would you feel to get rid of all your guilt and wrong decisions and start afresh?" With the look in his eyes and he responded "Amazing." we could see his sincerity. The Atonement of Jesus Christ is really there to help us. He REALLY DOES love us. He's waiting for us to open the door that he knocks on constantly. we just need to open it.
There are some steps that lead up to opening that door. The first step must be faith. We must believe enough to act on his invitation. We will never accept his healing power unless we believe that there will be results or blessings.
The second step is humility. Being willing to act on what he says. His way is ALWAYS higher than our way. He knows so much more than us. remember, God asked Abraham to sacrifice his son, he will call on you to sacrifice something to come closer to him.
The third step is prayer. Through prayer we can feel his love. That's how we open the door. The action of prayer, of talking to God and seeking his council, is very special and significant. It is how we receive his council, and his warm hugs.
Then, last, he asks us to follow him. We need to do what he did. Follow his commandments, be baptized by someone with the authority to do so, receive the gift of the holy ghost, then we must endure to the end.
That's how we destroy our guilt, by receiving that forgiveness, then strive to never get that guilt again.
2 Nephi 31: 19-20

19 And now, my beloved brethren, after ye have gotten into this strait and narrow path, I would ask if all is done? Behold, I say unto you, Nay; for ye have not come thus far save it were by the word of Christ with unshaken faith in him, relying wholly upon the merits of him who is mighty to save.

20 Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life.

Don't let anything in the way of following Jesus Christ.

Week 60
It was an intense week. Packing, saying goodbye to people in Rexburg, packing, getting on the transfer caravan, seeing old friends, shopping in Winco for the first time (It's like Sam's Club, but anyone can go), driving to my area, unpacking, meeting people, teaching Mexican Christian Pastors, meeting people. It was nuts. Super fun though! I like it here in the tiny town of American Falls; Where one feels at one with potatoes and Napoleon Dynamite. It's seriously the same. I feel like I should be watching out for old dudes shooting cows in front of school buses. It's great!
With all the changes that have happened recently I haven't really had the chance to think about what I should share today... So I think I'll talk about change.
Change can be a stressful thing, but every single time it happens it helps us in one way or the other. Change can help us to strengthen our faith, our ability to persevere, our ability to adapt, and it can help us to realize the blessings that we have and have had. Change is good in many circumstances. We shouldn't do random stupid things in order to change things up, but we DO need to strive to change ourselves to improve. We must continue to change ourselves to grow closer to God. We need to always analyze ourselves to make positive changes.

Week 61
This week was equally exciting! We went to a pumpkin patch last Monday and took a whole bunch of selfies. It's a great Idahoan pass time.
That night we had a car chase in American Falls trying to get away from a guy who just wanted to talk to us. Conflict resolved!
We, as a Mission, have decided to do something called "Purification." It's an individual sacrifice of little things that keep you, even a little, from being better.
My "Purification Sacrifice" is Mormon swears. I have obtained some since the start of my mission like "fetch." I have a rubber band around my wrist, and every time I use a Mormon swear (fetch, crap, dang, freaking, etc.) I snap it. It hurts, and helps me remember to stop. I know that my mom has been waiting for this moment for years.
Last week I talked about change. Christ always said "Follow thou me." He never told anyone to "just do your thing." Following is an action, a change. So I want to invite you ALL to make a change. Pray and thing a lot about what it should be. It could be to read the scriptures daily, it could be to not waste so much time on videogames, it could be a ton of stuff, but I invite you to make a change. I've seen in myself that consciously making a change helps us become more of what God wants us to become.
Elder Ballard said this about goals:
“I am so thoroughly convinced that if we don’t set goals in our life and learn how to master the techniques of living to reach our goals, we can reach a ripe old age and look back on our life only to see that we reached but a small part of our full potential. When one learns to master the principles of setting a goal, he will then be able to make a great difference in the results he attains in this life.”
Set goals that make you change and strive to achieve them! You can do this!
We also are fantastic chefs. The fajitas that my companion and I make are AMAZING! I'm setting a goal to become a good cook! When I get home, for my welcome home, I'm cooking.

Week 59
We had a good week. We had a baptism!!!  Marcos, a 12 yr. old was baptized! It was so fantastic! I'm pumped!
I will be transferred this coming Wednesday. They're sending me down to American Falls. (in the boonies of Pocatello) I'm sad to leave but PUMPED to go! I've been here for 7 1/2 months and I need a change of scenery.
The winter is coming. I can feel it in the air. GOOD THING I'M GOING SOUTH FOR THE WINTER! After winter in Jackson Hole last year, they evidently decided to give me a break this go around. I got pictures with a few people that I said bye to.
We had a good week otherwise as well. We had a fantastic lesson with a young lady from Venezuela who was able to go to conference in Salt Lake. She found that experience super eye opening for her and she started to understand how the spirit works better. The spirit testifies powerfully of the words of the Prophet and the Apostles. They don't guide the church, Christ himself does, and the spirit testifies of that.
Yesterday at church I felt something very real. I felt the spirit testify to me that Christ really did suffer for me and that he loves me. That came to me plain as day. It really is how the Book of Mormon testifies:
Mosiah 3: 8-11

8 And he shall be called Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of heaven and earth, the Creator of all things from the beginning; and his mother shall be called Mary.

9 And lo, he cometh unto his own, that salvation might come unto the children of men even through faith on his name; and even after all this they shall consider him a man, and say that he hath a devil, and shall scourge him, and shall crucify him.

10 And he shall rise the third day from the dead; and behold, he standeth to judge the world; and behold, all these things are done that a righteous judgment might come upon the children of men.

11 For behold, and also his blood atoneth for the sins of those who have fallen by the transgression of Adam, who have died not knowing the will of God concerning them, or who have ignorantly sinned.

I know that Jesus is the Christ and that he loves each of us. He wants to help us; he's knocking. Let him in.

Week 58
This week was, yet again, another roller-coaster.
My nausea has started to act up again. I've been put on Zofran (The most powerful anti-nausea medication that exists.) It hasn't been fun. We believe that I now must avoid eggs and dairy, which is just fantastic. I've started to feel a bit better though. I'm on the mend with help from some members in the area.
We had some awesome experiences this week. General Conference was amazing. I love our opportunity to listen to the men called by God in these days to lead His church! I was very instructed, and I hope you were as well. If you did not have the chance to watch it, go on LDS.org and click on the big thing that says "if you missed conference." It's direction from God in our day to help us overcome the challenges that nobody in history has ever faced.
I particularly enjoyed President Monson's talk in Priesthood session about the Bismark (not the city in North Dakota, a really awesome ship in WW2.) It really was pretty much unsinkable if its rudder hadn't been damaged.
We all have great potential, we all are unsinkable if we keep direction. If we focus on God every day, we will not falter. As long as we don't get our rudder broken, and sail in circles getting bombarded for 3 days, we're good. I hope that all will remember that a very small thing, like a rudder is very important. It can be the difference between returning to live with God, and to not. Keep direction. Focus on God and the truth, then you will be saved.

Helaman 5:12
12 And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.
Build on Christ. Focus on Christ. Don't fall.
There's an amazing movie coming out called "Meet the Mormons." We had the chance to see it before it comes out. It's pretty much about 6 different members of the church and how the church and God have influences in their lives. They're super cool people. There's a Costa Rican MMA fighter girl who only chooses to not go pro because her family is more important. There's a humanitarian guy from Nepal, The Navy's head football coach, a missionary's mom, and some other cool people. It really explains well what we believe and how it helps us in our lives.
I'd like to invite everyone to go see it on October 10th when it comes out in theaters! The net proceeds (which means every cent that they get from the production) goes to the American Red Cross. Go see it! It's awesome!
I know that Christ lives and that he loves us. He has given us people to guide us here on earth so that we can know for sure what he wants for us in these days. Moses never had to deal with Pornography, Peter never had to worry about addictions to the internet, and Paul didn't have to worry about responding to natural disasters. There are things that we face, as a world, that are new. There is certainly council for these things in the Bible and the Book of Mormon, but there are things that we need specific direction on. God has provided that through modern prophets.

Week 57.
Last week's was really long... I'll keep it short.
A year and 2 days ago I made a commitment to God. I would consecrate my time as a missionary, give my all to him, by not writing to my friends. I need to better keep this commitment. I've made some excuses on this matter, but I shouldn't and now I won't.
If anyone would like to send a card, or a letter of support, or you just need to get something off your chest, or you just feel like mailing something, or you have too many pictures laying around, I'm here. ;) I love hearing from you, but I will not respond for all around blessings. :) thanks for understanding.
So, if you write a letter to me and you don't receive a response, It doesn't mean that I love you any less, that I'm holding a grudge, or that I don't appreciate what you sent. In fact, quite the opposite. I've learned that as I follow God's guidance, EVERYONE is happier. I've had experiences when I haven't followed what he clearly asked me to do, and it led to heartache for everyone. I prefer to abstain, although it can be REALLY hard to not respond. I miss you all so much. I love you all so much, and I can't wait to catch up with all of you in 11 months, because you're the best.
I received a letter from a good friend that I haven't heard from in a long time, this past week. I wanted to respond SO BAD, but, through reading what happened this week last year, I received power to do Heavenly Father's will that I probably wouldn't have had otherwise. I know that all parties will be blessed.
I'm at a point now on my mission that I can, every day, write what happened and the spiritual impressions I had, then, read what happened that day last year. It's been incredible, and incredibly uplifting and empowering.
I challenge you all to keep a journal every day. It can bless you and help your life. It can help you stay committed to what you've previously decided to do, and it can help you remember spiritual experiences you've had. The blessings are exponential and it only takes 5 minutes a day. just do it. :)
The Spirit is real and it really does guide us. A journal can be your personal scriptures (written by you), to help you in future days. There's nothing to lose. ;)
Thank you all for your love, support, help, and prayers. They are sincerely appreciated, though I'll have to wait to tell you exactly how much.
We've seen a ton of blessings in our area this week. Heavenly Father is in this work. It is his.

week 56.
This past week has been hard, but incredible.
This month as a Zone, we had a goal of 18 baptized, 18 confirmed (IN REXBURG I MIGHT ADD). That was 2 baptisms for each of the 9 companionships. I was in the leadership meeting when this HARD goal was put forth. In that meeting I had a clear spiritual impression that we could and were going to do it. At the beginning of the month we only had 11 baptismal dates and some were in October.
If all goes according to plan this weekend, we will have 18 baptized and confirmed. Some INSANE miracles made that possible, and will help us do it.
Heavenly Father is in this work. He IS preparing people to receive this true gospel. If I did not know that before, I do now. The Church is true. I feel so blessed to be a member of this great church led by God. It's SO true. He really is leading and guiding us. I wish I could put into words the great feelings of joy and gratitude that I feel right now. I'm almost crying.
Today, I want to talk about The Book of Mormon. (p.s. I know it's true)
I want to give examples from every book in The Book of Mormon where it testifies of Christ, with explanations. I invite the Spirit to testify to all of you the validity of these scriptures and this book. Note: I prayed about all these scriptures and sharing them. This may be the most important thing you ever read.

1 Nephi 17:50
50 And I said unto them: If God had commanded me to do all things I could do them. If he should command me that I should say unto this water, be thou earth, it should be earth; and if I should say it, it would be done.

We believe in and testify of Christ's power. He can do all things.

2 Nephi 2:6-9
6 Wherefore, redemption cometh in and through the Holy Messiah; for he is full of grace and truth.

7 Behold, he offereth himself a sacrifice for sin, to answer the ends of the law, unto all those who have a broken heart and a contrite spirit; and unto none else can the ends of the law be answered.

8 Wherefore, how great the importance to make these things known unto the inhabitants of the earth, that they may know that there is no flesh that can dwell in the presence of God, save it be through the merits, and mercy, and grace of the Holy Messiah, who layeth down his life according to the flesh, and taketh it again by the power of the Spirit, that he may bring to pass the resurrection of the dead, being the first that should rise.

9 Wherefore, he is the firstfruits unto God, inasmuch as he shall make intercession for all the children of men; and they that believe in him shall be saved.

Christ is the only source of redemption. He suffered and died for us. I am a missionary to share this knowledge.

2 Nephi 25:26

26 And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.

We do all these things for families and others to understand who Christ can be for all people.

2 Nephi 31:20-21

20 Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life.

21 And now, behold, my beloved brethren, this is the way; and there is none other way nor name given under heaven whereby man can be saved in the kingdom of God. And now, behold, this is the doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is one God, without end. Amen.

There is no other way to be eternally happy than Christ.

Jacob 4:7

7 Nevertheless, the Lord God showeth us our weakness that we may know that it is by his grace, and his great condescensions unto the children of men, that we have power to do these things.

All things are possible with God's help and grace. Through him we overcome weakness.

Enos 1:26-27

26 And I saw that I must soon go down to my grave, having been wrought upon by the power of God that I must preach and prophesy unto this people, and declare the word according to the truth which is in Christ. And I have declared it in all my days, and have rejoiced in it above that of the world.

27 And I soon go to the place of my rest, which is with my Redeemer; for I know that in him I shall rest. And I rejoice in the day when my mortal shall put on immortality, and shall stand before him; then shall I see his face with pleasure, and he will say unto me: Come unto me, ye blessed, there is a place prepared for you in the mansions of my Father. Amen.

If we serve Christ, we will return to live with Him and receive rest and be resurrected.

Jarom 1:11

11 Wherefore, the prophets, and the priests, and the teachers, did labor diligently, exhorting with all long-suffering the people to diligence; teaching the law of Moses, and the intent for which it was given; persuading them to look forward unto the Messiah, and believe in him to come as though he already was. And after this manner did they teach them.

We do everything to help others to have faith in Christ.

Omni 1:26

25 And it came to pass that I began to be old; and, having no seed, and knowing king Benjamin to be a just man before the Lord, wherefore, I shall deliver up these plates unto him, exhorting all men to come unto God, the Holy One of Israel, and believe in prophesying, and in revelations, and in the ministering of angels, and in the gift of speaking with tongues, and in the gift of interpreting languages, and in all things which are good; for there is nothing which is good save it comes from the Lord: and that which is evil cometh from the devil.

26 And now, my beloved brethren, I would that ye should come unto Christ, who is the Holy One of Israel, and partake of his salvation, and the power of his redemption. Yea, come unto him, and offer your whole souls as an offering unto him, and continue in fasting and praying, and endure to the end; and as the Lord liveth ye will be saved.

All good things come from Christ. It pleads that we accept and follow Christ.

Words of Mormon 1:8

8 And my prayer to God is concerning my brethren, that they may once again come to the knowledge of God, yea, the redemption of Christ; that they may once again be a delightsome people.

It is through God that we become truly happy. We cannot really be happy without him.

Mosiah 3:17

17 And moreover, I say unto you, that there shall be no other name given nor any other way nor means whereby salvation can come unto the children of men, only in and through the name of Christ, the Lord Omnipotent.

Again, there is no other way than Christ to receive Salvation. none.

Mosiah 4:9

9 Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend.

God created everything for us. He knows all.

Mosiah 27:29

29 My soul hath been redeemed from the gall of bitterness and bonds of iniquity. I was in the darkest abyss; but now I behold the marvelous light of God. My soul was racked with eternal torment; but I am snatched, and my soul is pained no more.

Through Christ we can be freed from sin and pains.

Alma 19:12-13

2 And it came to pass that he arose, according to the words of Ammon; and as he arose, he stretched forth his hand unto the woman, and said: Blessed be the name of God, and blessed art thou.

13 For as sure as thou livest, behold, I have seen my Redeemer; and he shall come forth, and be born of a woman, and he shall redeem all mankind who believe on his name. Now, when he had said these words, his heart was swollen within him, and he sunk again with joy; and the queen also sunk down, being overpowered by the Spirit.

A man sees bits of Christ life in a vision before Christ's life. That new knowledge gave him and his such great joy! The spirit caused he and his wife to be overcome by the Spirit and pass out.

Alma 22:16

16 But Aaron said unto him: If thou desirest this thing, if thou wilt bow down before God, yea, if thou wilt repent of all thy sins, and will bow down before God, and call on his name in faith, believing that ye shall receive, then shalt thou receive the hope which thou desirest.

If we pray, we can come to understand the truth, if we ask in faith.

Alma 26:11-12

11 But Ammon said unto him: I do not boast in my own strength, nor in my own wisdom; but behold, my joy is full, yea, my heart is brim with joy, and I will rejoice in my God.

12 Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever.

We are nothing alone, but with God we can do all things.

Alma 56:47

47 Now they never had fought, yet they did not fear death; and they did think more upon the liberty of their fathers than they did upon their lives; yea, they had been taught by their mothers, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them.

We need not fear. We must believe that God will help us overcome all challenges (in this case, a war. None of these young men died because of their faith.

Helamen 5:40-41

40 And it came to pass that the Lamanites said unto him: What shall we do, that this cloud of darkness may be removed from overshadowing us?

41 And Aminadab said unto them: You must repent, and cry unto the voice, even until ye shall have faith in Christ, who was taught unto you by Alma, and Amulek, and Zeezrom; and when ye shall do this, the cloud of darkness shall be removed from overshadowing you.

When we find ourselves in darkness (metaphorically), we can call on Christ and he will help us.

3 Nephi 11:3-17
This is when, after His resurrection, Christ comes to the Americas to visit his other sheep. (John 10:16)

3 And it came to pass that while they were thus conversing one with another, they heard a voice as if it came out of heaven; and they cast their eyes round about, for they understood not the voice which they heard; and it was not a harsh voice, neither was it a loud voice; nevertheless, and notwithstanding it being a small voice it did pierce them that did hear to the center, insomuch that there was no part of their frame that it did not cause to quake; yea, it did pierce them to the very soul, and did cause their hearts to burn.

4 And it came to pass that again they heard the voice, and they understood it not.

5 And again the third time they did hear the voice, and did open their ears to hear it; and their eyes were towards the sound thereof; and they did look steadfastly towards heaven, from whence the sound came.

6 And behold, the third time they did understand the voice which they heard; and it said unto them:

7 Behold my Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, in whom I have glorified my name—hear ye him.

8 And it came to pass, as they understood they cast their eyes up again towards heaven; and behold, they saw a Man descending out of heaven; and he was clothed in a white robe; and he came down and stood in the midst of them; and the eyes of the whole multitude were turned upon him, and they durst not open their mouths, even one to another, and wist not what it meant, for they thought it was an angel that had appeared unto them.

9 And it came to pass that he stretched forth his hand and spake unto the people, saying:

10 Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world.

11 And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning.

12 And it came to pass that when Jesus had spoken these words the whole multitude fell to the earth; for they remembered that it had been prophesied among them that Christ should show himself unto them after his ascension into heaven.

13 And it came to pass that the Lord spake unto them saying:

14 Arise and come forth unto me, that ye may thrust your hands into my side, and also that ye may feel the prints of the nails in my hands and in my feet, that ye may know that I am the God of Israel, and the God of the whole earth, and have been slain for the sins of the world.

15 And it came to pass that the multitude went forth, and thrust their hands into his side, and did feel the prints of the nails in his hands and in his feet; and this they did do, going forth one by one until they had all gone forth, and did see with their eyes and did feel with their hands, and did know of a surety and did bear record, that it was he, of whom it was written by the prophets, that should come.

16 And when they had all gone forth and had witnessed for themselves, they did cry out with one accord, saying:

17 Hosanna! Blessed be the name of the Most High God! And they did fall down at the feet of Jesus, and did worship him.

Christ Loves us all equally. It does not make sense that he would not show himself to all people after his resurrection. Read this passage again and pray about it.

4 Nephi 1:15

15 And it came to pass that there was no contention in the land, because of the love of God which did dwell in the hearts of the people.

Through the love of God, all contentions can be resolved.

Mormon 9:21

21 Behold, I say unto you that whoso believeth in Christ, doubting nothing, whatsoever he shall ask the Father in the name of Christ it shall be granted him; and this promise is unto all, even unto the ends of the earth.

Through Christ,  prayer, and faith. We can receive all good things.

Ether 12:27
Christ talking through revelation

27 And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.

Through Christ we can overcome weaknesses.

Moroni 9:25

25 My son, be faithful in Christ; and may not the things which I have written grieve thee, to weigh thee down unto death; but may Christ lift thee up, and may his sufferings and death, and the showing his body unto our fathers, and his mercy and long-suffering, and the hope of his glory and of eternal life, rest in your mind forever.

We can be healed through Christ of all worry and doubt. That doesn't necessarily take those problems away, but he can help us stay hopeful.

Moroni 10:4-5

4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.

5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.

Through faith in Christ, we can know the truth of all things. Especially The Book of Mormon. I invite all, please, to get a copy, read it, pray about it, and it can and WILL strengthen you and your relationship with Christ. I promise this with all my heart. Please.

I know that he Book of Mormon is true. I have come to know this through diligent study of it for myself. I found out, FOR MYSELF, through prayer, that it is true. Please, just try it. Even if it goes against everything you've been taught, just try. What do you have to lose? You'll either be edified by it and find out it's true, or you'll have learned some interesting things about another religion.

!Hola Todos! (just imagine that the first exclamation mark is upside down.)
We have had a FANTASTIC week. It's been full of ups and downs, but that's every week, is it not?
We had transfers on Wednesday, so I've got a new comp! Woot! Elder Henrie is from down town Phoenix. He's 25 and a super cool guy.
We had some cool experiences this week. Our Zone decided that we'd put the work in God's hands, and expect miracles. We set some really high goals and we WILL achieve them.
Someone who we've been teaching set a high goal as well. She set a goal to read the Book of Mormon in 2 months. In Spanish, that's 11 pages a day. When she set that goal, she seemed committed to it, but, she started to doubt; saying "11 pages is a lot." She ended up reading less than 11 pages in 2 weeks.
My last season of Cross Country, I made a goal to run a 5K in less than 23 minutes. I ran a 23.13 in my last race. I did not achieve my goal only because I was injured right after that last race.
Sometimes there are reasons why we do not complete our goals. I was physically unable to run for months after that injury. Other times there are excuses. Excuses are things like "I don't have time", "I'm too tired", "I don't feel like it today". Excuses are nothing but hold ups for your growth. THEY ARE FROM SATAN. He does not want us to accomplish anything in this life. DON'T YOU DARE DOUBT YOURSELF. Don't let any stupid, lazy excuse get in your way.
We are Children of God. We have an incredible potential. Excuses will stunt our growth and keep us from becoming who God wants us to become.
Set goals, then accomplish them. Just do it.
Philippians 4:13
"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."

Christ healed a lame man at the Pool of Bethesda. He can help you with anything. Set a goal, do all you can, take Christ's hand, and have faith. This applies in every goal you may have.
