Week 70
This past week I've had a lot of time to reflect on improvement. I suppose that's on all of our minds right now because of the New Year. These things should always be on our mind!
God Counselled Joseph Smith saying : "Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness;" (Doctrine&Covenants 58:27)
We should always think about how we can improve and actually improve!
I heard from an Elder today: "Basically, what repentance is, is this- stop doing what you shouldn't be doing, and start doing what you should be doing." It's that simple! If there's something that you know you should stop, stop. It's a no brainer. You don't have to wait until the New Year to decide that you need to exercise, lose weight, watch what you eat, or get closer to God. There's this thing called agency and repentance (essentially our ability to change) and it doesn't only come around New Years. Waiting for "the right time," is stupid and childish. Make decisions and change right now.
It's baffling to me how this concept is so foreign to some.
We have been given by God the Ability to change through his Son Jesus Christ. If THE SON OF GOD had to suffer and die for us to have this opportunity, I think it might be a slightly important thing for us to do. JUST DO IT.
Make changes now. Lay down your "weapons of rebellion" (Alma 23:7) and come unto Christ. There's no better time than right now to do something that you should have always done.
Don't be a "sissy". Don't be an object to be acted upon. Don't be weak. Be the Child of God that He created you to be. Choose good, be good, change. That's where happiness lies. That's how we'll become who He wants us to be.
Honoring God
